Kuoshu Lei Tai (Chinese Full Contact)
The Lei Tai (擂臺) has a proud tradition spanning back to the dawn of Chinese history. In ancient times, the Lei Tai was the platform on which the very best martial artists fought duels – sometimes to the death. Today, the modern Lei Tai maintains the tradition of two fighters on a raised platform with rules that allow the use of: Ti (踢) Kicking; Da (打) Striking; Shuai (摔) Grappling and Throwing; and Na (拿) Seizing.
Over the years, from the first tournaments organised by the International Chinese Kuoshu Federation in the 1950s to the most recent tournaments organised by the World Kuo Shu Federation, the Lei Tai has maintained an amateur status. Today, in the United Kingdom, Pro Kuo Shu (PKS) in association with the Chinese Kuoshu Institute (CKI) will take the Lei Tai onto the professional stage. And, in a return, to the ancient tradition, only the very best martial artists will have the privilege of fighting on the Professional Lei Tai.
Pro Kuo Shu (UK)
PKS is the new organisation responsible for the promotion of full contact sparring in the United Kingdom. Working with other martial arts groups in the United Kingdom, PKS will maintain the official register of full contact fighters. Our mission is to promote full contact sparring under both Amateur and Professional Kuoshu Lei Tai rules sanctioned by The World Kuoshu Federation (TWKSF).
Our aim is to open up the Lei Tai to any martial artists who might think they ‘have what it takes’, to participate in the ancient practice of full contact sparring on the Lei Tai. We intend to bring the spectacle of the Lei Tai to a wider audience for a unique and open full contact martial arts experience.
Our objective is to develop an amateur and professional league for fighters in the UK. In partnership with other Pro Kuo Shu promoters worldwide, we will take the best of British fighters onto the world stage for international events.
